Anne McDonald, guest columnist for seattlepi, an internet news site, has had severe physical disabilities since birth.  At the age of 19, she attended school for the first time, and eventually graduated from a university with majors in science and fine arts. Annie’s Coming Out, a book about her experiences written with her teacher, was made into a movie (Best Film, Australian Film Institute Awards, 1984).
